Congratulations on the birth of your child! We share in the joy of welcoming your child into the Church through the Sacrament of Baptism. We honor the roles of parents as the primary educators of their children and seek to support the faith development of your new child and family. If you are not yet parishioners of St. Michael's or St. Mary's, we invite you to register and become part of our parish family:
Baptismal Preparation Class
Our Baptismal preparation class is offered on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Through this class, new parents and guardians will learn about the theology of the sacrament and study the Rite of Baptism. We will chart a course toward fulfilling your vow of raising your child in the Faith. (You are not required to attend if you have attended this class at our parish within the past three years.)
Baptisms are normally held on the 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month following 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Michael's or the third Sunday of each month after 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's.
Parents are to choose only one male sponsor or one female sponsor or one of each. Sponsors must be practicing Catholics, at least 16 years of age, who have been confirmed in the Catholic Church. (A person baptized in another Christian faith may stand as a Christian witness.) If married, their marriage must be sacramentally recognized in the Catholic Church. Sponsors should complete and return the Sacrament of Baptism Sponsor Form to St. Mary's Parish Office.
To begin preparations for your child's Baptism, please complete and submit the Baptism Request Form to Mrs. Flo Harris. Please also submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate to St. Mary's Parish Office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Flo Harris at 651-439-1270.
