We have a wonderful service opportunity that you may want to be a part of. On Friday September 29th, the Feast of St. Michael, We will have a food packaging event in the SCCS Gym. This event is an opportunity, to package highly nutritious meals to be distributed to those in need both domestically and internationally.
The meals that will be packaged at this event will be sent to those in need in Haiti at the Hospital Sacre Coeur and will also may be distributed to those in need in the Houston area because of hurricane Harvey. This is a great opportunity to live out our Catholic values.
The Corporal Works of Mercy are kind acts by which we help our neighbors with their material and physical needs. The very first of these, is to feed the hungry. This can be difficult at times to do. So, on the feast day of our patron, St. Michael, we are working to make this as easy as possible and will bring the program right to our campus.
This event is sponsored by the Sodality of St. St. John the Baptist, a 501(c) 3 corporation, which was founded by members of the Knights of St. John, also known as the Order of Malta as part of their personal “spirituality in action” as members of the Order.
What are we looking for:
- We are looking for people who are willing to sign up for a 90 minute event--- 6:30-8:00pm on Friday September 29th.
- Because the food product we will package (rice, vegetable powder, protein etc.) costs 25 cents per package, we are hoping for donations from those who participate (suggested donation; $25 per Adult)—But for those who cannot contribute financially, please come and help anyway!
- Please contact Brenda Grubb with any questions at 651-379-1263
Thanks for your support and see you there!
